Yum, yum, and, of, yeah, YUM!
Get the traditional tea (of your choice), and enjoy the accompanied scones and clotted cream, cakes, and (European style) no crust sandwich quarters.
But, oh, so, delish!
Just, simply, great!
Tiny place, so, either call for reservations, or be prepared to be turned away (very very politely, of course "so sorry, we're all booked up").
Do make it your destination, and enjoy one of England's wonderful traditions at a place that does it right. -

The service here is excellent, quite honestly some of the nicest people I have met in London work here.
All of the food was pretty good, some standouts were the scones, butter, and the egg sandwich. The tea was also good but nothing too great, I had the masala chai and Rosebud. They also offer milk and sugar on the side with tea if you'd like. Free refills on tea as well.
The price for the quality of food is unbeatable. However the best part about this place is definitely the people and how kind they are. Service is unmatched. -

We stumbled upon this tea house while looking for another restaurant we searched on yelp( Ffiona's). When we got there it was closed and we were so disappointed BUT low and behold across the street we saw Candella Tea Room. Another place we happened to have bookmarked.
We literally started doing all the old school happy dance moves, the cabbage patch, the running man because we thought we had made that trek across town for nothing. Let me just tell you, the busy road was pretty scary to cross but we made it alive!
The shop is small inside, but I loved the coziness and traditional high tea atmosphere with all the beautiful chandeliers and mismatched tea sets and the staff was friendly. It was also very reasonably priced for afternoon high tea in London. We were very lucky because we didn't have a reservation and were seated without issue. I've read in other reviews that they turn people away sometimes. So, you may want to call ahead of time, just in case.
I had the English Breakfast Tea, btw the best tasting thus far I've had in London. They served it loose leaf. They also have a really extensive tea selection.
The sandwiches were tasty, but a bit thin. Very light. The scones & jam were very nice and clotted cream was good, but it was more on the buttery side than the sweet side (my preference). My favorite finger sandwich was the mint cucumber cream cheese. The only real complaint (because these are not really complaints just preferences) is that they didn't allow us the option to select the cakes, as the cakes selections are already pre-set for the afternoon tea for 2 menu item, and I would have liked to have chosen from others that looked more appealing than what was served, which were the red velvet and I think what might of been a butterscotch walnut cake. Sadly, the cakes were kind of dry. Nothing unique about the cakes served, but like I said, there were other cakes that looked more exciting that you had to pay extra for to substitute. However, I guess we were being cheapskates and not thinking straight. You live & you learn! ;-) -

I did a bit of research before deciding to come to this tea room based on price, reviews, and location of where I was going to be that day. It's a very small but a cute place. It's also very close to Kensington Palace so it's perfect for either a before or after stop. They offer many different tea selections and sandwiches. If you're looking for a first time afternoon tea experience or location this isn't a bad place to start. Candella is inviting yet not intimidating. Reservations definitely recommended. I opted for the traditional afternoon tea. The cherry almond rooibus tea I tried was more pleasant than I anticipated. A touch of sweetness but not overly sweet. I preferred the cucumber sandwiches over the egg but both were good. Scones were amazingly flaky and soft. You must be generous with the cream and jam on them. I would come back and have tea everyday if there's time on my next vacation. Thanks Candella for the experience!

Is this the best, fanciest tea in all of London? Nope! Is it the "best value" high tea? It certainly might be!
Candella is pretty close to Kensington Palace so if you aren't having tea there, this is a good alternate. Its a tiny place so definitely make a reservation as we saw several parties get turned away. Also definitely try to sit inside as the local pigeons are VERY aggressive!
Anyway, expect mis-matched vintage chairs and vintage China - all in a very charming way. As we were a group of 4, we had the "family tea" at £40 which included 4 sandwiches (cut into dainty quarters, no crusts of course!), 4 scones and 4 chunks of cake, plus 2 large pots of tea.
IMO the sandwiches were pretty "ok" but the scones were absolutely delicious and not at all like what is served in the US as scones (dry, nasty things). These were light, warm crumbly cakes that were even better when piled with clotted cream and jam. The cakes (carrot, a sponge of some kind and red velvet) would do Paul Hollywood proud.
For tea you have LOTS of choices from traditional (earl gray, etc) to beautiful herbals. I picked a berry hibiscus that was just beautiful and Kelly picked a lavender earl gray - both perfect with our fancy cakes.
If you're hungry, the family tea definitely will fill 2 people up (not bad for £20/head) or serve as a nice light meal for 4. A very good value all around especially considering the fancy neighborhood.
